About this site
Support without stigma
This site grew out of pharmacy research into substance use dependency and stigma in healthcare. Its purpose is simple: make accurate information easy to find, and make asking for help feel possible.
People who use substances consistently report being treated differently in healthcare settings — dismissed, labelled, or assumed to be untrustworthy. That experience has measurable consequences: later diagnosis, undertreated pain, avoided appointments and preventable deaths.
This resource is built on three commitments. Information should be accurate and sourced. Support should be easy to find, including for people with no money, no GP and no intention of stopping. And nobody should have to read scare tactics or moral judgement to learn about their own health.
We are an information and signposting resource. We do not provide diagnosis, treatment or emergency response. In an emergency, call 999.
Who it's for
- People using substances, at any stage and with any goal.
- Families, friends and carers who are worried about someone.
- Healthcare professionals, students and educators.
- Anyone who wants to understand dependence and stigma better.
